FAQ

Questions we hear the most.

Safety, regulation, pricing, and operations — answered plainly.

Safety & Regulation
Is the Alpin System certified to fly in Switzerland?

We are pursuing certification through a FOCA (Federal Office of Civil Aviation) pathway for BVLOS operations. Our pre-application was submitted in 2025; outdoor certified test flights are underway. Every platform is engineered against Swiss federal aviation standards from day one.

What happens if a drone loses its navigation lock mid-mission?

Our visual-inertial SLAM is designed for GPS-denied conditions specifically, but each platform carries redundant IMU sensing and a fail-safe hover-and-hold behavior if confidence drops below a safe threshold, followed by a controlled return-to-launch.

Do the drones carry weapons or surveillance payloads?

No. Every civil configuration is built around rescue, inspection, logistics, and public-event payloads — thermal cameras, medical drop pods, LiDAR, LED panels, cargo pods. Hathor does not build or market weaponized systems.

How is flight data and footage handled?

All mission and telemetry data is processed and stored within Switzerland, with encrypted comms links between airframe and operator. See our Technology page for the full security and data-sovereignty overview.

Operations
How fast can a Hathor drone be deployed on a mission?

Owl and Bee platforms launch in under 60 seconds from a prepared or hand-launch position. Eagle requires a prepared surface or truck-ramp launch, typically ready within a few minutes.

What weather conditions can the platforms operate in?

Depending on platform: -20°C to +50°C, winds up to 55 km/h, and full operation in fog or low visibility where GPS-dependent systems and helicopters are grounded.

Can one operator run multiple drones at once?

Yes — our swarm intelligence layer lets a single operator deploy and monitor an entire coordinated swarm. The system automatically divides search areas and re-tasks units if one fails, rather than requiring one pilot per drone.

How long does it take to swap a payload?

Under two minutes. The modular payload interface is standardized mechanically and electrically across the Owl and Eagle platforms, with auto-calibration on attach.

Pricing & Training
How is the Alpin System priced?

Direct system sales, recurring service and support contracts, and turnkey light-show services. Configuration-dependent — see our Deployment section on the Company page, or request a quote.

Do you provide pilot training?

Yes. Annual service contracts include pilot training and ongoing BVLOS operational support alongside maintenance and software updates.

Can we run a pilot program before purchasing a fleet?

Yes — this is our standard path. Phase 1 validates the platform in your terrain; Phase 2 runs a paid pilot alongside your existing workflow; Phase 3 scales to a full fleet with a support contract.

Do you support organizations outside Switzerland?

Our initial focus is the Swiss market, with European expansion planned following FOCA certification. Contact us to discuss your region.
